SEO audit in Valencia
Your website exists. Google probably doesn’t see it the way it should. If your business in Valencia doesn’t appear in the top search positions, you are losing customers to competitors who may offer less than you do. A professional SEO audit pinpoints exactly why that happens and gives you the map to fix it.
What does the SEO audit service in Valencia involve?
I analyse your website in depth: technical aspects, content, links and user experience. The result is a report with the problems identified and prioritised, along with a specific action plan. Websites like yours have increased their organic traffic after implementing the recommendations from our audit.
What is an SEO audit and why does your business in Valencia need one?
Before you invest in content, links or advertising, you need to know what state your website is in.
Without that prior diagnosis, any SEO action can end up as wasted money and time.
What a professional SEO audit is
Think of your car’s MOT. You don’t take it because the car is broken, but to make sure everything works properly before a fault leaves you stranded at the roadside. An SEO audit works the same way. It is a thorough technical review of your website that finds the problems stopping Google from ranking you well, before those problems cost you customers.
A professional audit covers four main areas: the site’s technical structure (speed, crawling, indexing), content and keywords, the external link profile and user experience. Google uses more than 200 factors to decide which websites appear first. An audit identifies where you are falling short and where you can gain ground quickly.
The difference between an automated audit and a professional one is critical. Free tools such as Screaming Frog or Semrush’s automated reports detect symptoms. A professional interprets those symptoms, understands their real impact on your business and designs the solution. An audit with no action plan afterwards has no practical value.
Benefits of an SEO audit in Valencia
75% of users never go past the first page of Google. If you aren’t there, you simply don’t exist for most of your potential customers. An SEO audit in Valencia is not an optional expense. It is the foundation for any online visibility strategy that genuinely works. The specific benefits of a professional audit include:
- 一Greater organic visibility: You appear where your customers are looking for you, without relying solely on paid advertising.
- 二Better-qualified traffic: Users who are already searching for what you offer, with a stronger intention to buy or get in touch.
- 三Better user experience: A technically sound website converts better, not just ranks better.
- 四An edge over local competitors: While they ignore their technical problems, you fix yours and move up the rankings.
- 五A solid base for your SEO strategy: Any later action (content, link building, local SEO) is more effective on a properly audited website.
- 六Measurable return on investment: More qualified organic visits translate directly into more enquiries, more sales and more business.
Not doing an SEO audit has a cost too, even if you can’t see it. It is the customers who go to your competitor because they appear above you on Google.
When is the right time to audit your website?
There are two types of audit. Preventive audits are carried out periodically to maintain SEO performance, and reactive audits respond to a specific problem that has already been detected. The first kind avoids the second. If any of these apply to your website, you need an SEO audit right now:
- You have suffered a sudden drop in organic traffic with no obvious cause.
- You have recently carried out a website redesign or a migration (a change of domain, CMS or URL structure).
- Google has rolled out an algorithm update (Core Update) and your rankings have fallen.
- You have just launched a new website and want to make sure it is set up correctly from the start.
- You have been stuck in the same positions for months without moving up, despite publishing content.
- You suspect or have confirmed a penalty.
- Your website has gone more than 12 months without a technical review and the digital landscape has changed.
The general recommendation in the industry is to carry out a full SEO audit every 6 to 12 months, complemented by lighter quarterly technical reviews. Google’s algorithms change constantly, and what worked a year ago may now be holding your rankings back.
Who's behind it
About me
Step by step
My SEO audit process in Valencia
Every audit I carry out is a tailored piece of work. I analyse your specific website, in your particular sector, against your real competitors in Valencia and on Google Spain. The process has defined phases, deliverables and an estimated turnaround of 30 days.
一Phase 1: Technical analysis of the website
If Google can’t crawl, understand and index your website properly, the best content in the world is no use.
This is always the first block of analysis, because an unresolved technical problem undermines every other SEO action.
Loading speed and Core Web Vitals
Since 2021, Google has used Core Web Vitals as an official ranking factor, a criterion that directly affects your visibility in search results.
The three most important metrics are:
- LCP (Largest Contentful Paint): Measures how long it takes for the page’s main visual element to load. It should be under 2.5 seconds.
- INP (Interaction to Next Paint): Replaced FID in March 2024 and measures how responsive the page is to user interactions. The optimal threshold is under 200ms.
- CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift): Measures visual stability during loading. The target is a value below 0.1.
A delay of just 1 second in loading can cut conversions by up to 7%, according to data from Akamai and Google. This means a speed problem affects more than your SEO. It also affects how many of the users who reach your website end up contacting you or buying.
For the analysis we use Google PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse and the Core Web Vitals report in Search Console, paying particular attention to mobile results, where the standards are stricter and the impact on users is greater.
Crawling and indexing of pages
If Google can’t crawl a page, it can’t rank it. Crawling and indexing problems are more common than they seem, even on websites that have been live for years.
Crawling is the process by which Googlebot visits your website, and indexing is when Google decides to include that page in its database.
The most common errors we find in audits include:
- Key pages accidentally blocked in the robots.txt file.
- Misconfigured noindex tags that prevent important pages from being indexed.
- 404 errors and redirect chains that waste crawl budget.
- Incorrect canonical tags that confuse Google about which version of a page it should index.
- Out-of-date sitemaps that include deleted pages or leave out relevant new ones.
- Orphan pages with no internal links pointing to them.
For large websites (ecommerce sites with thousands of products, portals with a lot of content), crawl budget is a critical factor. Google won’t crawl an unlimited number of pages on your site, so you need to make sure it spends that budget on the pages that really matter to the business.
If your main service page has an accidental noindex, Google won’t show it, however perfect the content is.
This kind of error looks minor, yet it may have been costing you rankings for months without you knowing.
Website architecture and URL structure
Website architecture is how the pages on your site are organised and connected. Good architecture helps Google understand what your website is about, which pages matter most and how they relate to each other. Poor architecture scatters authority and makes ranking harder.
The principles we apply when analysing architecture are:
- The 3-click rule: No important page should be more than 3 clicks from the home page. If it sits deeper, Google gives it less weight and users take longer to find it.
- Friendly URLs: Short, readable and including the main keyword. URLs with parameters, numeric IDs or incomprehensible structures hurt both CTR and rankings.
- Silo structure: Grouping content by related topics helps Google understand what your website specialises in and strengthens topical authority.
- Internal linking: Links between pages on your own website distribute authority (link juice) and guide Google towards the most important pages. Well-planned internal linking can improve rankings without a single new external link.
A well-structured website isn’t only easier for Google to understand. It also helps your customers in Valencia find what they are looking for in seconds, which improves user experience and conversion rate.
Mobile optimisation and responsive design
Since 2019, Google has used mobile-first indexing across the board, so the mobile version of your website is the one Google analyses and evaluates to rank you. If your mobile version has problems, your overall rankings suffer, even if the desktop version is flawless.
More than 62% of global web traffic comes from mobile devices, according to data from Statista. In Spain, that percentage exceeds 70% for local searches. In Valencia, searches such as «restaurante cerca», «clínica en Valencia» or «inmobiliaria Valencia» are mostly made on mobile. A website that isn’t optimised for mobile loses customers on every one of those searches.
There is an important difference between being responsive (the design adapts to different screens) and being mobile-optimised (the whole mobile experience is optimal).
The analysis of the home page includes:
- Font size and readability without the need to zoom.
- Size and spacing of tap targets (a minimum of 48x48px recommended by Google).
- Correct viewport configuration.
- Images adapted to screen size without slowing the page down.
- No content that requires Flash or other plugins that don’t work on mobile.
- A check with Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test.
二Phase 2: Content and keyword audit
Content is the main ranking factor alongside domain authority. But it isn’t about publishing more. It’s about publishing the right thing, for the right people, at the right point in their search journey.
Keyword analysis and ranking opportunities
Keyword analysis is not a list of terms with search volume. It is a map of business opportunities. Each keyword is a way in for a potential customer. The job is to identify which ones are open to your business in Valencia and which need more effort than their return justifies.
One of the most underrated opportunities is keywords in positions 4 to 20 on Google. Your website already has enough authority to appear there, and with small content improvements and technical optimisation those positions can jump to the first page. This is the «low-hanging fruit» of SEO, where the effort is minimal compared with the potential impact on traffic.
The keyword analysis includes:
- Identifying your website’s current keywords and their real position on Google.
- Analysing the search intent behind each term: transactional (I want to buy), informational (I want to learn) or navigational (I’m looking for a specific website).
- Finding long tail keywords specific to the Valencian market with good purchase intent and less competition.
- Identifying related terms and semantic entities that reinforce topical relevance.
- Analysing the keywords your direct competitors in Valencia rank for.
The tools we use in this process include Semrush, Ahrefs, Google Search Console and Google Keyword Planner. Combining data from several sources gives a more accurate picture than any single tool.
Review of meta tags, titles and descriptions
Your title tag and meta description are your website’s shop window on Google. They are the first thing a user sees before deciding whether to visit your site or your competitor’s. If they don’t persuade, the click goes elsewhere, even if you are in first position.
The title tag is the metadata element with the greatest direct impact on rankings. A well-optimised title can improve CTR (click-through rate) by between 20 and 30%, which in turn strengthens the relevance signal for Google. The optimal parameters are:
- Title tag: Between 50 and 60 characters, with the main keyword included naturally, preferably at the start.
- Meta description: Between 150 and 160 characters. It isn’t a direct ranking factor, but it has a decisive influence on CTR.
The most common errors we find are titles duplicated across several pages, titles so long that Google truncates them in the results, generic meta descriptions that don’t invite the click, and titles missing the main keyword.
As well as metadata, we audit the heading structure (H1, H2, H3). Each page should have a single H1 with the main keyword, and the H2s and H3s should organise the content logically and include semantic variations of the target terms. A well-built heading hierarchy helps Google understand the structure and relevance of the content.
Detecting duplicate content and keyword cannibalisation
Duplicate content confuses Google. When the search engine finds two pages with similar or identical content, it doesn’t know which one to show and may end up ranking neither of them properly. Up to 30% of websites have some kind of duplicate content problem, whether internal (between pages on the same domain) or external (content copied from other websites).
Keyword cannibalisation is a different problem but just as damaging. It happens when two or more pages on your website compete for the same keyword. If you have two pages optimised for «abogado Valencia», Google doesn’t know which to prioritise and may fail to rank either of them effectively. We detect and resolve this problem with a clear approach:
- Identifying pages that compete for the same keywords.
- Analysing which one has more authority and better content to decide which to keep.
- Solutions depending on the case: canonical tags to signal the preferred page, 301 redirects to consolidate pages, noindex tags for pages with no SEO value, or merging content into a more complete and authoritative page.
The tools we use for this analysis include Screaming Frog, Semrush Site Audit and Siteliner. Used together, they detect both exact duplicates and substantially similar content that may be hurting your rankings.
Quality and relevance of existing content
Beyond the technical problems of duplication, we audit the real quality of your website’s content from the perspective of both Google and the user. The search engine assesses content according to the E-E-A-T concept (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness), especially in sensitive sectors such as health, finance and law.
The content analysis includes:
- Identifying pages with thin content (insufficient or low-value content).
- Assessing how well the content matches the search intent of the target keywords.
- Detecting out-of-date content that may be damaging how the domain’s authority is perceived.
- Analysing the internal structure of the content: use of lists, tables, images with optimised alt text and embedded videos.
- Assessing readability and suitability for mobile (short paragraphs, frequent subheadings, scannable content).
三Phase 3: Analysis of the external link profile
External links (backlinks) are still one of the most powerful ranking factors in SEO. A link from an authoritative website to yours is, in practice, a vote of confidence that Google takes into account when deciding how much authority to give you.
But not all links are positive. A toxic or manipulated link profile can lead to algorithmic or manual penalties that sink your rankings. The backlink profile analysis includes:
- Quantity and quality of backlinks: Number of referring domains, domain authority (DA/DR) and topical relevance of the linking sites.
- Detection of toxic links: Spam domains, private blog networks (PBNs), and links from penalised sites or sites with irrelevant content.
- Anchor text analysis: The distribution of link text, to detect over-optimisation.
- Comparison with competitors: How many backlinks your main competitors in Valencia have, of what quality and from which sectors.
- Identifying opportunities: Relevant websites in the Valencian ecosystem that would be worth getting a link from.
If toxic links are found, a disavow plan is drawn up using Google Search Console’s Disavow Tool, together with a strategy for building quality links to strengthen the domain’s authority sustainably.
四Phase 4: Local SEO analysis for Valencia
For businesses with a physical presence or that serve customers in Valencia and its metropolitan area, local SEO gets you ranking in local searches, which have high purchase intent.
The local SEO analysis includes:
- Google Business Profile: A review of verification, completeness, categories, photos, reviews and replies, posts and sector-specific attributes.
- NAP consistency (Name, Address, Phone): Making sure your business’s name, address and phone number are identical on every platform where you appear (directories, social media, website).
- Local citations: A review of your presence in directories relevant to the Valencian and Spanish market (Páginas Amarillas, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Idealista, etc., depending on the sector).
- Local Pack optimisation: A review of the block of three local results that Google shows for searches with geographic intent.
- Reviews and ratings: An analysis of your strategy for gathering and managing reviews, which are a ranking factor in local SEO.
五Phase 5: Final report and action plan
The audit report is not an 80-page document full of tool screenshots. It is a structured, understandable and actionable document that includes:
- Executive summary: The 5-10 most critical problems with the greatest impact on rankings, explained without jargon.
- Detailed analysis by area: Technical, content, links and local SEO, with each problem identified, its level of impact (high/medium/low) and the recommended solution.
- Prioritised action plan: What needs doing first, what can wait and what is optional, with estimates of effort and expected impact.
- Post-audit follow-up: A session presenting the report, to answer questions and agree the implementation plan.
If you want me to implement the improvements after the audit, I can support you with an ongoing SEO service or coordinate with your team.

Questions
Frequently asked questions about the SEO audit service in Valencia
Interested in improving your website’s rankings? Here are my answers to the questions clients ask me most often.
My SEO audit includes a thorough analysis of your website’s structure, content, links and performance. I also assess your rankings on search engines and your competitors, and carry out keyword research.
It depends on the size and complexity of your website, as well as on the problems identified during the process. Generally, a basic audit can take between 15-30 days.
At the end of the process you will receive a report with a list of tailored recommendations for improving your website’s SEO, plus access to several documents covering the full set of improvements to make, the keyword research and the content schedule.
The standard industry recommendation is to carry out a full SEO audit every 6 to 12 months. This is complemented by lighter quarterly technical reviews to catch new problems early. Some situations justify an immediate audit regardless of the schedule: a sudden drop in traffic, a website redesign, a domain migration or the release of a major Google algorithm update (Core Update). In those cases, waiting for the usual cycle can mean months of avoidable ranking losses.
An SEO audit is a one-off diagnosis. It analyses the current state of your website, identifies problems and opportunities, and delivers an action plan. It is a time-limited piece of work with a clear deliverable. SEO consultancy is an ongoing service, where an expert works regularly with your team to implement the strategy, track results, adapt to algorithm changes and scale up the actions that work. The audit is the ideal starting point before any consultancy or ongoing SEO service, because without that prior diagnosis the strategy has no solid foundation.
You can do a basic audit with free tools such as Google Search Console, PageSpeed Insights or the free version of Screaming Frog. That will give you a partial view of some obvious technical problems. A professional audit goes much further, though. It interprets the data in context, identifies problems that tools don’t detect automatically (such as keyword cannibalisation or architecture issues), prioritises them by their real impact on your business and designs a coherent action plan. If your website is your main channel for winning customers, the gap between an amateur audit and a professional one can amount to thousands of euros in annual revenue.
An SEO audit helps you understand how your website works and how it performs on search engines. This lets you identify SEO problems and opportunities.
Results depend on the website’s starting point, the competition in your sector and how quickly the improvements are implemented. In general terms, the first visible ranking improvements usually appear between 4 and 8 weeks after the most critical technical fixes are implemented. Content and authority improvements take 3 to 6 months to consolidate. Websites with serious technical problems that are fixed properly can see increases in organic traffic in the first month, although it is normal to see their progress at 6-2 months. SEO isn’t paid advertising. Results take longer to arrive, but they last over time and don’t disappear when you stop paying.
