What it checks

What this SEO content analyser checks

It focuses on the content of a single page. The report sets it alongside the pages already at the top for that search and includes the following sections.

  • Speed compared with the top results: it compares your URL’s performance score and its LCP, CLS and FCP metrics with those of the pages in the top positions.
  • Title, description and search intent: it shows the title and description of each result with its character count, classifies the intent of each one and suggests a description for your page.
  • Competitors’ headings: it collects the H1 and the H2 to H6 headings of the top results, highlights the topics that recur and suggests an H1 and a content outline for you. The outline marks which sections you already have and which are missing.
  • Structured data: it lists the schema types each result uses and the ones it recommends adding to your page.
  • Content gaps: it detects the entities behind the search and the topics your page does not cover, each with a high, medium or low priority.
  • Google’s quality guidelines: it rates your page against the criteria used by Google’s quality raters, which cover purpose, E-E-A-T, content quality, whether it answers what people are looking for, transparency and user experience. Each section comes with its own improvements.
  • Conversion: it gives design and call-to-action recommendations so that the visit ends in an enquiry.
  • Work plan: it suggests supporting articles with their keyword and volume, a roadmap for the next 30 days and a draft structure for the page.

How to use it

How to use the website SEO analyser

  1. Enter the keyword

Enter a single search, the one you want to bring clients to that page. The analysis is based on Google’s results for that search, so the more specific it is, the more useful the comparison will be.

  2. Add your page’s URL

This field is optional, but without your URL the report has nothing of yours to compare. Enter the page you want to rank for that search, which does not have to be your home page.

  3. Leave your email address and wait for the report

When it finishes you can download the report from the same page, and it is also sent to your inbox so you have it to hand when you start making the changes.

Before you use it

What the analyser does not do

  • It does not review your whole website. It analyses one page for one search, and if you want to know what is holding the website as a whole back, you need an audit.
  • It has no access to your Search Console or your Analytics, so it does not know which queries bring you traffic or how many sales each page generates.
  • It can get things wrong. Part of the report is written by artificial intelligence, so review its recommendations before you change the page.
  • On its own it will not move you up in Google. It tells you what to look at, but the changes still have to be made and then measured.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about the SEO analyser

Yes. It only asks for the keyword, the URL and an email address to send the report to.

A few minutes. In the meantime you can see on screen which step it is on and how much is left.

The analyser works on one page at a time, because it compares that page’s content with the pages already ranking for a search. To analyse the SEO of an entire website, run it on the pages that matter most to you or commission an SEO audit, which reviews the site as a whole.

Because a page does not rank in the abstract but for specific searches. The keyword tells the analyser which pages to compare you with and what someone making that search expects to find.
